What is Geometric Vinyl?
Geometric vinyl is a type of heat transfer vinyl or HTV, that has geometric designs on it. This is a type of vinyl that is adhered to the material through heat. How to Adhere the Geometric Vinyl
The process of adhering to the Geometric HTV is not very complex or complicated, however, each of the steps must be followed correctly. The steps that are in this process include:

Choosing Your Design
This is the part of the process where you will get to express yourself creatively. You will get to choose the design that you would like to have. You can do this by either designing the pattern yourself or using a cut file. Either way, once you have chosen the design, you will want to take the time to make sure that the correct side of the vinyl is lying face down on the mat. It is also important to make sure that the design is reversed or mirrored.

Setting the Right Heat
This step is one of the most important steps in the whole process. If the heat is not set to the correct temperature, it could ruin the vinyl, material, or in some cases, even both. You can know what the correct temperature to set is by reading the instructions that come with the vinyl or visiting our Heat Settings Guide. This will let you know exactly how hot the iron or heat press should be when adhering to the vinyl. In the case of the heat being set too hot, there is a potential to burn holes in the vinyl or the material. However, if the heat is not hot enough, then the vinyl will not stick correctly. Making sure to follow the instructions exactly, will ensure the best application of the vinyl as possible.

Preheating the Item
This next step of preheating the item cannot be missed. Before applying the vinyl to the material, you will need to make sure to preheat the item. You can do this with either an iron or a heat press. This step is so important because it helps smooth the fabric down and gets rid of any wrinkles that may be there. It is also important because it sucks up the moisture from the material so that the vinyl will be able to adhere correctly to the material. 

Place the Design and Add the Heat
Once the item is preheated, then your material is ready to have the vinyl to be applied to it. Another thing that you need to look for in the instructions is how long the heat should be applied, as well as how much pressure should be applied. Knowing what is good for your vinyl will make sure that there are no burns in the vinyl or material, and will make sure that the vinyl will have the correct amount of heat and pressure applied to ensure that it will stick to the material. 

If layering multiple parts of a design make sure that your carrier sheets do not overlap and your vinyl accidently gets applied to the carrier sheet instead of your surface. 

After you have applied the heat, it is important to make sure to remove the heat immediately. This will help prevent any burns from happening accidentally.

Peeling the Carrier Sheet from the Vinyl
The last step of the application process is to make sure to peel off the carrier sheet As in the previous steps, you will know when to remove the backing as you take the time to read the instructions. Some types of vinyl will have you remove the carrier sheet  once it is completely cooled off. However, other types of vinyl will not have you wait so long to do so. Following the directions will make sure that there is no peeling of the vinyl. Once the carrier sheet  is peeled, you are now done and can enjoy the unique project that you have created.
