Application Process 

At our store, we carry pailsey vinyl in both adhesive vinyl and heat transfer vinyl. The application process for both of these different types of vinyl is different, but neither is too difficult. It is important to make sure to follow the instructions exactly to ensure that the vinyl adheres properly. Here are the steps for both of the different application processes.

Prepare the Surface
Ensure the surface is clean, smooth, and free from dust or debris. With whatever material or surface that you are using, you will want to know the exact area the vinyl will be going onto so you know that you have enough surface area for your design choice. 

Measure and Cut
Measure the area where you want to apply the paisley vinyl and cut the vinyl sheet or decal accordingly. It can be helpful when you are picking out a predesigned graphic or designing a graphic that you are sure will look good at the size you need for the material or surface. This is especially important if there is wording, as you want it to be clear. Consider using tape to position and hold the vinyl in place before application. Weed or remove any of the excess material that is left after the cut that is not part of the design. 

Apply Transfer Tape - Adhesive Paisley Vinyl 
Carefully apply paper or clear transfer tape to the design and peel off the backing from the paisley vinyl, exposing the adhesive side. Be cautious not to touch the adhesive to maintain its effectiveness. Be careful with the exposed vinyl or it can catch on something and get moved or pulled around. That is why having the surface or material prepared is important for a smooth process. 

Preheat Surface - HTV Paisley Vinyl 
To get the best results, you want to be sure that you are preheating the surface that the vinyl will be going onto. The heat that you want to be using for this will depend on the vinyl that you purchase, so you will want to be sure that you read the description and instructions that come with the vinyl that you are using. 

Position and Apply
For HTV, once your surface is preheated, you will be ready to use the heat source that you have to press the vinyl onto the surface. This can be an iron or a heat press but you will place the design on to the desired location on the surface. Once you have it just as you want it, you will use the heat to adhere the design to the surface. Be sure to use pressure to get the edges to adhere to the surface. Follow the directions on the time of heat on the vinyl to ensure that you do not burn the design or the material. Remove the heat at the recommended time. 

For Adhesive, after removing the backing carefully lay your design where you want it. Then use a scraper tool or a a credit card over the top of the transfer tape to help adhere. Go back and forth from the middle to the edges of the design a few times to remove bubbles and make sure it stuck to your desired surface 

Remove the Carrier Sheet or Transfer Tape 

HTV - Once you have taken the heat off of the vinyl, the design should be on the surface and you have the carrier sheet left on it. Depending on the vinyl, the instructions will either be to remove it right away or to let it cool before removing the carrier sheet of the vinyl. Once that is removed, your vinyl should be on the surface and ready for its intended use. 

Adhesive - Carefully remove your transfer tape and use your scraper or finger to press any pieces that might come up. Now your paisley vinyl design should be complete!

Following these steps should help you successfully apply paisley vinyl to your chosen surface. It is always best to check the instructions of the specific vinyl that you bought. That will give your project the best chance at success and the vinyl to adhere properly.
