Brunch in a box with vinyl!

Brunch in a box with vinyl!

Hey there friends! It's Aubrey from @projectsilhouette and I'm here to share with you a fun summertime project you can easily do with some adhesive vinyl. I love eating outside when the weather is nice, and I also LOVE giving gifts. So I combined the two and created a "brunch in a box" that makes a unique summertime neighbor gift! Here's how you can make one too.

Supplies:

-cutting machine (I used a Silhouette Cameo)

-adhesive vinyl (I used mint and metallic gold)

-transfer tape

-scraper tool

-weeding tool -white box (I found mine at Ikea)

-acrylic blanks or trimmed down plexiglass

STEP ONE: Create design

Open Silhouette Studio and draw a shape the size of your acrylic blanks. I had some plexiglass in my garage so I trimmed it down to size. After drawing a rectangle in the software, you can easily size your text to fit perfectly onto your acrylic sign.

Use the text tool and type out your menu and customized name plates. Your neighbors will love the extra thought of seeing their names in the brunch box!

STEP TWO: Weld text and cut

When you're working with any script font (like cursive) you want to right click it and weld. That way your machine won't cut out every individual letter, but the word as a whole.

Now go to your cut settings and choose glossy vinyl. Load your material into the machine and let it get to work!

STEP THREE: Weed vinyl

Grab your weeding tool and peel off the parts that you don't need, leaving just the words. Use your weeding tool or some craft tweezers to weed out the small insides of the letters.

Now we have our vinyl designs ready to apply!

STEP FOUR: Place transfer tape

Grab your favorite transfer tape from Expressions Vinyl (I love the clear one!) and place it over your design.

Use your scraper tool and flatten the tape onto the design.

Turn it over and gently peel off the backing paper from the vinyl, revealing the adhesive side.

STEP FIVE: Place design onto the surfaces

Plexiglass comes with a protective film on both sides, as you can see here. Peel off one side to start with, and that's where we will place our vinyl design.

Use your scraper tool again and rub the design onto the box and acrylic blanks so you have a good adhesion.

Gently peel off the transfer tape to reveal your beautiful brunch box, menu and customized name plates!

You will be sure to wow the nighbors with a gift like this! And what better way to bring people together than the offering of tasty (and cute!) food?! Enjoy your summer and happy crafting!!
