Diy Painted Rug: No Machine Needed

Happy Summer Expressions readers!

It's me Summer {no I was not born in the Summertime} from Made By Munchie's Mama with a super easy, really quick tutorial for you. The best part? You don't even need a cutting machine!

DIY Painted Rug Tutorial

I picked up this boring little white rug from Ikea a couple weeks ago for $1.99 and knew it would come in handy in the near future...I was right! I just did a revamp in the kitchen and this was the perfect little addition.

1. Take a 12x24 sheet of vinyl and cut it into strips of varying thicknesses. Make sure to cut it along the 24 inch edge. Otherwise it won't reach all the way across your rug. I used a box cutter and straight edge.

2.Tape down your rug and then arrange your strips of vinyl as you like. I taped them down with painters tape so they wouldn't move around.

3. Peel off the paper backing and smooth down the strips onto your rug. Press nice and firm so paint won't get underneath. Then get to painting. The fibers on this rug were really easy to cover.

4. I stopped at the little ridge along the edge so it would have a nice, clean white boarder.

5. Take off your vinyl and admire your masterpiece. There you have it, a custom rug for under $4!

I also made this sign using vinyl as a stencil.

Thank so much for having me! Have a great weekend!
