Monthly Onesies For Adorable Growth Pictures
Hi! I’m Blair of Britt bebe here to show you an easy and fun DIY great for any mom, mommy to be, or even grandma! Monthly baby photos are a great way to document your baby’s first year, and I’m sure most have seen the monthly stickers offered to stick on them for their “monthlies.” But, why not create a custom monthly onesie with Heat Transfer Vinyl? This is a great way to document your baby’s growth each month, and bonus, they can wear their onesie through out the month.
I decided to create two boy and two girl designs to show you, a navy nautical one and a red one with deer antlers that are all the rage right now. I created the boy designs using the Easyweed Heat transfer vinyl. For the girl designs I wanted to add a little sparkle so I picked the gold and blush Glitter Heat transfer vinyl for my wreath and dot designs. {see below}
It’s really important that once you've created your design that you mirror any text in the Silhouette Studio. Since you will be applying the design onto your tee or onesie remember to mirror your designs otherwise your text will turn out backwards once it’s ironed on!
After your design is set up, feed your vinyl sheet into your machine SHINY side DOWN. {You’ll notice which is the shiny side when you’re making these yourself} After your machine cuts out your design then comes the fun job, of weeding your vinyl. Be sure you’re weeding away the excess vinyl to reveal your designs left on the clear transfer backing sheet, which should look something life this.
Now’s the fun part! Grab your onesie and lay your design sticky side down on the fabric. Then once you’re happy with your placement you can use a pillow case or a single sheet of fabric on top of the clear transfer sheet (the carrier sheet will also withstand the heat of the iron). Iron your vinyl applying firm pressure the whole time (iron for 10-15 seconds). Remove the iron and fabric and peel cold or hot for Easyweed and Hot for Glitter HTV.
Once it’s cooled gently peel back the plastic transfer sheet to reveal your vinyl design on your onesie, like so!
If you have trouble with part of the design still sticking to the transfer sheet, apply heat and pressure again for a few seconds.
Here's my babe, Ellison, celebrating 8 months in her monthly onesie!
