Patch It Up

Hi, it's Stephanie from A Geek In Glasses and I'm sharing with you the quick fix to my favorite blanket. This is a simple project and something to keep in the back of your mind before you toss out any torn or worn item.

This is my favorite blanket. The one I grab to curl up and snuggle with on the couch while reading, watching TV, you get it - my little piece of comfort. One day it was on the couch while our new puppy was on the couch. He is a chewer, and the next thing there was a hole in the blanket and it was seeping feathers everywhere.

Determined to fix my love, I measured the hole and cut a heart out of the heat transfer vinyl large enough to cover the hole. Since this hole wasn't through both layers of the blanket, I was able to just press the heart shape using the iron and it was fixed.

If the hole would have been through both sides, a backer would have to be used, that can be as simple as a small piece of cotton placed on the back side of the hole then the vinyl would be pressed to the front and it was use the piece of cotton to adhere to. Or 2 of the same vinyl shapes could be cut and one could be placed on the front the other to the back

So, before getting rid of something think of the Heat Transfer Vinyl as a quick way to mend the hole.
