Subway Art Canvas For Baby

Subway Art Canvas For Baby

Don't you just love when an idea in your head finally comes together? A sweet friend recently had a baby boy and I was racking my brain trying to come up with a gift that was personal but also something that she could use somehow. So I found out the colors in her baby's nursery and this is what I came up with!

I bought a plain 16x20 canvas board from Michael's Craft Stores. It comes in a very stark white so I purchased Distress Ink in Walnut and applied it using a foam brush and water to give it an aged look.

Next I set up my wording for the board using various fonts and sizes. Her primary colors where light blue, navy and white. I used the Oracal 651 Premanent Vinyl in Light Blue, Navy and Tan.

I cut and then weed my vinyl using Transfer Tape. I then cut out each word and layed it out on the board to see how I wanted to set it up.

I then began with my biggest words first and fixed them onto the board peeling back the tape backing.
Once I had layed out all the words just like I wanted them, I used Modge Podge and applied it with a foam brush to cover the entire canvas and affix the vinyl to the canvas so that it does not peel up.

I hope she loves it! I think I will have two make two for my own boys' rooms now! If you have any questions on this project feel free to leave me a message. I can also be found over at Two Prince Bakery Theater!
