What is Easyweed Electric Heat Transfer Vinyl?
Hi guys, it's Jessica at expressionsvinyl.com. And today I want talk to you about Siser Easyweed Electric. It's a heat transfer vinyl product and it is amazing.
The first thing I want to do is show you guys a few projects that the creative team has made.
Amy made this adorable onesie using Pearl and Green Easyweed Electric. And it just shimmers and shines and it's so fun.
And then, Starla made this fun tea towel and she mixed it with regular EasyWeed and then the Red Easy Electric.
JoAnn made this super fun burlap sign that you can pin pictures to the bottom. So you can use Siser EasyWeed Electric on any hard surface, anything that will withstand the heat. It's great for clothing, you could put in on a wood board, anything you can think of.
I want go over how you cut it. So this EasyWeed Electric is actually made up of three different layers. You've got your clear carrier sheet. And then if you flip it over on the back, this is where the adhesive is. The adhesive is not activated until it hits the heat. And then in the middle, you've got your actual vinyl product. So if I peel those apart, you can see the clear carrier sheet, your vinyl, and then your adhesive.
Now when you're cutting this out, you only want to cut through the vinyl and the adhesive. You don't want to cut through that clear carrier sheet. That acts as your mat. When I am cutting this, I do want to make sure and reverse or mirror my image. Today, I'm using a Silhouette Cameo, you can also use your Cricut with this. I'm going load it into my machine so that clear carrier sheet is facing down and my vinyl, the adhesive part is laying up.
When cutting with my Silhouette Cameo, I want my blade to be at a two, the thickness to be at a seven, and the speed to be about a five or a six. With your Cricut, you can use the iron on setting.
I've got my image all cut out here, and now I'm just going to weed it. IYou can see how nicely this Electric weeds.
I did use a weeding box around my image that I set up in the Silhouette program. Now if you get your cut settings just right, it weeds very easily. You do want to make sure while you're weeding and touching this back part, the adhesive layer, that you don't have any lotion or oils on your hands because it could affect that adhesive.
Trim you image out and you are ready to apply it to your shirt.
I'm going to use a heat press today, but you can also use an iron. On the heat press, my temperature is set at 304 and I'm going to do it for 10-15 seconds.
If you're using an iron, you want to set it just a little bit below the cotton setting and make sure you get nice pressure behind it. Before you apply your vinyl do a quick pre-press and get any moisture or wrinkles out of my shirt. This will help with shrinkage as I'm applying my vinyl. We don't want the shirt to shrink underneath our vinyl.
There's a little trick to find the center. Just fold the shirt in half and stick it in for just a couple of seconds. That leaves a crease line in the shirt. I'd recommend adding a pressing pillow underneath because my shirt is so small and I've got these bulky seams. I want to make sure and give something for those seams to press into so I can get a nice even surface on my shirt. Now you are ready to press that for the the full 15 seconds.
The Easyweed Electric line is a hot or cold peel vinyl which means you can peel it off whenever you are ready.
Look at that shine, it's so pretty. We have the Siser EasyWeed Electric available in a 12 by 12 sheet, a 12 by 24 sheet, and also a five yard roll, if you need a ton of it. You can also layer with the Siser EasyWeed, you can layer on top or underneath. It's a super fun product that we have tons of colors in.
The Electric comes in all of these fun colors and the Electric is great if you want to add some color,This gives you a really fun pop. The teal is my personal favorite, but all of these colors are amazing.
If you guys liked this video, give us a thumbs up. If you have any questions, please leave them down below and we will get you answered. And share this with any friends that might like the Siser EasyWeed Electric. Thanks guys, have a great day.
