Coloring Page Tote Bag

- Hi guys it's Starla with ExpressionsVinyl.com And we've been doing some really fun projects lately with adding our own coloring pages to our projects using vinyl.

There are some fun images that can be found almost anywerhe, Silhouette Studio, Cricut Design Space, Google, Pinterest anywhere like that, there are thousands of Images.

I've got one done in Heat Transfer Vinyl that we're gonna show you how to do today.

And we've got a fun little gift bag that's done in adhesive vinyl that would be fun for parties, gift favors, anything like that that little kids can color and they're just a fun little project for 'em to do.

Girl Coloring Page:

  • Canvas bag: (3 pack) found at walmart
  • Markers- Twin-tip Fineline Markers (Hobby Lobby)
  • Vinyl- Stripflock Black
  • Heat Press Pillow {This will come in handy for the bulky parts of the bag}
  • Image- Google Search

So, lets get back to our Canvas Tote bag. The only vinyl that we will need for this is our Siser Stripflock in Black.

We've got most of it weeded out so we're going to finish it so you can see how easily it is to do.  If you have never used the Stripflock or are worried about how thick it is, dont be, it is quite easy to weed out because it is a softer vinyl. I personally prefer it for coloring pages to mimic the fuzzy color posters and I like that it has a ledge. If you go outside your lines, you're not going notice it as much.

Because its thicker it can be hard to weed in those detailed spots, but it looks awesome once it's done.

If you are not sure you weeded every little piece, because there are a lot of details, just flip it over and you will see any missing pieces.

Now its time to press, we have our Heat Press set to the Stripflock's recommended settings of 320 degrees for 15-20 seconds with a cold peel . And I've already pre-pressed my bag to remove any moisture and get it nice and flat.

Creating coloring pages onto carry bags is one of my favorite medias for two reasons. They will be used all the time and you can put all of your materials, your weeding tool, your pencils, your markers whatever you wanna do, right in the bag and it is on the go. Perfect for crafting while traveling.

If you peel this right away it's going to lift because it hasn't bonded to the material so you wanna let it cool. And one of my favorite tricks is to flip the now applied vinyl over and rub it on a cool counter top. You can feel it cooling down. This is only needed to speed up the cooling process on cold peel vinyls.

The markers that I used are Fineline markers with twin tips, which is awesome for any intricate details. I picked these up at Hobby Lobby. Awesome price with a 40% off coupon.

The fun thing about these, they do take quite a bit of time but if you travel a lot, this is an awesome craft to do while you're traveling or if you have to do a last minute gift and you've got this weeded out and you wanna do a bag for one of your friends or family members.

Try it out and have some fun with it.
