Easy Baby Clothes Embellishments

Easy Baby Clothes Embellishments

Hi there! I’m Lisa Mabey from Mabey She Made It. There’s something so cute about newborn clothes. I can’t help myself from embellishing them sometimes. But for those teeny tiny babies, you don’t really want too much going on or all you notice is the clothes, not the precious baby.

So when I started putting together a few clothing items for my upcoming baby, I knew I wanted the embellishments to be simple and sweet. I thought some Heat Transfer Vinyl from Expressions Vinyl was the perfect solution. I used two of the colors in the Tuxedo Pack, which includes white, black, silver glitter, and black glitter. They’re basic and fancy at the same time!

I've declared my love for baby gowns before, and I’m sure I’ll do it plenty more times. So when I made this one from pink jersey knit, I wanted to add a little something. I decided on a string of ovals to go along the neckline. It’s a super simple design, and it fits perfectly with my newborn clothing philosophy.

The second shirt I wanted to embellish is one of these amazingly sweet side snap shirts--so perfect for dressing those delicate bodies. I rarely see this type of shirt sold with cute prints, so adding a little something to my own works well for me. For this shirt, I used a predesigned leaf image and sized it to go along the side and crossover pieces.

With my designs decided, I cut them both out using my electronic cutter (shiny side down!). I used two of the colors—white for the ovals and black glitter for the leaf images.

Once they’re cut out, weed away the excess vinyl, leaving your images on the clear plastic and get your iron ready. Then just iron them on your clothing, wait until everything’s cool, and peel off the plastic backing. You’re done!

So simple, and yet they look amazingly professional. And they won’t overwhelm a tiny baby either!
