Happy Harvest And Fall Y'All!

Happy Harvest And Fall Y'All!

Hi! This is Candace from Clearfield Designs. Fall is almost here! The leaves in my back yard are starting to change and I can feel it in the air. Fall is my favorite season of them all. The colors, the smells, and of course the decorations!!!! Today I want to share two signs with you that I made. The great thing is that they cost me very little. I found the wood pieces at a garage sale this summer. They were $2.00 and $3.00 each. The Harvest sign is made from a drawer front and the Happy Fall sign is from a cupboard door. Nothing beats a great deal on craft projects!

Here are the before pictures. There are holes drilled on the back of each of these, but not on the front.

I started my signs by using the Cricut Craft Room. The Harvest sign is made by using Cricut Everyday Cartridge Chalk Board Font. This cartridge has some really fun fonts to use. I used the Craft Room to size my font the length and width I needed. I also decided that my sign needed some fall leaves. These leaves came from Simply Scarecrows cartridge. Once again, very cute images on this cartridge.

Since the wood is really dark, I wanted my letter to "pop". I chose Signal Yellow outdoor vinyl from ExpressionsVinyl.com for my letters. My original plan was to hang this sign outside, therefore using the outdoor vinyl. But after applying the vinyl, I decided that it would look great on my fireplace mantel. One great thing about using outdoor vinyl on signs is that it doesn't peel off easily at all.

I've actually been using the outdoor vinyl more and more on signs for this reason. My leaves are made from Olive vinyl (indoor) and red vinyl (indoor). After cutting my images with my Cricut Expression, I weeded out the excess vinyl and applied the transfer tape. I then carefully placed my letters onto the desired are and rubbed out any air bubbles. Then I carefully pulled the transfer tape off. I did the same process with the leaves.

For the Happy Fall Y'all sign, I again designed everything on the Cricut Craft Room. I used the Alphalicious Cartridge for this font and the Simply Scarecrows Cartridge for the leaves.

(Tip: the leaves come grouped together so I cut out multiple leaves in various vinyl colors)

I used cream outdoor vinyl for my letters and the same colors as before for the leaves. The cream stands out really well with the dark wood. I didn't use the yellow because I wanted it to be different, yet still match. I knew I wanted to keep this sign very simple. I didn't want the words to be all in a row, so I offset them. I really do like how it turned out. I'm still not sure if this will hang outside or inside yet. Either way, I have cute fall decorations for my home!

I hope Y'all have a very happy fall and enjoy it as much as I do! And remember, you can apply vinyl to almost anything, including drawer and cupboard fronts.

Have a great day!

Candace
