How to cut and emboss vinyl with your die-cut machine!

Hi, I'm Jo Ann with ExpressionsVinyl.com. I know a lot of you out there may not have a fancy Cricut machine, Brother machine, Silhouette machine, or any of those different machines to cut vinyl with, but you can still cut vinyl. I recently dusted off my Cricut Cuttlebug and decided, why not! If it can cut paper then it should be able to cut vinyl. The Cricut Cuttlebug is an embossing machine. There are a lot if different types available and the nice thing about them is that they are not electronic. There is usually a handle on the side that you turn as different cutting plates and embossing folders go through it.

I've got these fun little arrow die cuts as well as snowflakes. The craft stores still carry lots of different die cuts. There are so many different ones that are out there. This is a great way to use your scraps. Pick out a few pieces you want to use and line them up on the plates. Then you will need to add your dies wherever you would like to have them cut. Align your other plates in place based on the machine you are using and then run them through. It is that easy.

Now they are ready to add to a card, embellish a scrapbook page, anything you want.

But, if you want to take it one step further, you can! Did you know that if you run the cut pieces through to be embossed now that they will have a fun patterned surface. Follow the stacking instructions for your machine and add your vinyl pieces to the inside of an embossing folder. How awesome is that!

You don’t need a fancy machine. Pull out the things you used to use for scrapbooking or cardmaking and put them to use with your vinyl. And, what a great way to use your small vinyl scraps!

There's no limitation to what you can use this vinyl with. Let us know what things you have created this way.
