Spookbatular Garland

Spookbatular Garland

Hi! It's Ashley stopping by from Simply Designing. I am so excited to share a Halloween post with you today. This is actually the first Halloween post I have done this year!

Now, I don't know how you are feeling but a part of me is really not ready for fall, or Halloween, while the other part of me can't wait to pull out all my fall decor! I love the fall, it is my favorite season, but I am also not quite ready to let go of summer yet. However, since the temperature recently took a +30 degree drop where I live, I think it is time I force myself to embrace that fall is here and Halloween is right around the corner.

In an attempt to will myself into the fall mood, I decided to use some fabulous black vinyl from Expressions Vinyl to create a SpookBATular Garland.

I have a Silhouette, however please remember that you can create the same look with any other vinyl cutting machine, scissors or even an exacto knife! You can still use vinyl without a vinyl cutting machine!

First I laid out my designs in in Silhouette's software program, determining the sizes I wanted based on how big my mantel is.

Then, using the program's predetermined settings for vinyl, I cut my vinyl. (On fancy designs I typically slow my speed down a bit.)

Next I weeded the vinyl and applied my transfer tape to each piece.

Placement was very important to me, so before I adhered each piece of vinyl to the mantel, I used masking tape to tape each piece in place on my mantel with the backing paper still on. This allowed me to make sure that I placed my vinyl accurately!

Once my vinyl was in the correct place, I simply took off the backing paper and applied the vinyl!

Voila! With a few more Halloween decorations and perhaps some well placed spider webs, my mantel will be ready for Halloween!

I know I will be using vinyl for my Halloween decorations, but I want to know, will you use vinyl to decorate for fall or Halloween?
