Stripflock...Learn All About This Fun Heat Transfer Vinyl!

Hey everyone, it's Jessica over at ExpressionsVinyl.com, and today I want to tell you all about StripFlock Heat Transfer Vinyl, or, as it's sometimes called Flocked HTV. Stripflock HTV, it is a little bit thicker material, but it has a nice, soft velvety finish, and it's really fun. I think it's kind of under utilized, so I want to tell you about it and why you should use it!

Here we have all our different colors, all the basics are covered, it's just so fun. So these are the 11 colors that we have it in.

I think the best thing about it is that you can layer on top of it. It does have that soft velvety finish, but you can layer other heat transfer products over top. On this shirt, all of the grey is Stripflock vinyl, and then we've added Easyweed in pink on the top. We've also got our metallics, Stripflock on top of Stripflock (which is a really fun one to do), Holographic, and then the Glitter HTV on top of Stripflock.

I want to get into the basics of the Stripflock Vinyl, it is made of three different layers. The front part, which is really shiny, is our clear carrier sheet, it's kind of thick plastic piece.

And then behind that is our Stripflock vinyl, and that will peel off of our carrier sheet. This is where the soft velvety finish is.

Then on the back of the StripFlock is where our adhesive is, and this isn't activated until it hits the heat.

~So when working with any heat transfer vinyl, you want to avoid wearing lotions and creams, because they can interact with the adhesive and affect the wearability of it.

When cutting Stripflock vinyl, as with all heat transfer materials, you only want to cut through the adhesive and the actual Stripflock material. You don't want to cut through this clear carrier sheet because it acts as your transfer tape, it's like built-in transfer tape.

When I'm cutting on my Cricut, I use the Iron-On Plus setting, and when I'm cutting on my Silhouette, I use my blade at a 5, Speed 5, and Thickness 12-15.

You can also find the full charts on our website under the Machine Settings.

So this is how it weeds, as you guys can see, it has that nice, velvety feel and it has such rich color. It's so fun!! And as you can see, on the clear carrier sheet, it's leaving a little bit of fuzz, but that is okay, your adhesive, is on the vinyl and not the clear carrier. You're peeling off the parts you don't want, this little fuzzy stuff won't stick to your material.

Here are some fun projects we made here at Expressions Vinyl out of StripFlock:

So StripFlock vinyl isn't as scary as it seems, give it a try, and if you have any questions, feel free to leave us a comment below. Thanks everyone and happy crafting!
