Lucky Crafts For St. Patrick's Day

What are the Holiday's without crafts? Some say it is not a holiday at all! We just might be some... So we have put together a nice little collection of some of our favorite holiday crafts. This might be just to give you some ideas that can help you on your way to your next craft project, or maybe you will love one so much you will make it just as we have. Either way we hope you enjoy and find inspiration from our creations!

It's almost St. Patrick's Day! To help you avoid getting pinched, we've got some fun green and gold crafts for you! Whether you're actually Irish or just enjoy celebrating holidays, we've got some fun vinyl projects in store.

O'Baby Onesie

It's never too early to let baby in on the fun! This onesie is oh so cute and perfect to keep them from getting pinched! (Although, who can resist pinching adorable baby cheeks?!)

For this shirt, we layered EasyWeed Electric heat tranfer vinyl (HTV) underneath our Clovers patterned HTV. This is important, because our patterned heat transfer vinyl cannot have anything layered on top of it, but it can be the top layer of vinyl.

The adorable shamrock is made of EasyWeed Electric HTV with an outline of our gold holographic layered on top. Similar to our patterned HTV, holographic vinyl cannot have anything layered on top, but it can be the top layer of vinyl.

Can Coolers

As much as we all enjoy a cold beverage of our choice, the can is too cold to hold sometimes! Can coolers are a fun solution! They make great party favors, they're easy to decorate, and of course keep your hand warm and your drink cold!

For this project, we took our vast variety of green heat transfer vinyl and mix-and-matched them together for a spunky look!

For this craft, we did layer vinyl on top of patterned (a big no-no!), but sometimes rules can be broken for items that won't be washed or receive much use, such as seasonal can coolers.

We used our Irish Plaid patterned HTV as the base for many of these coolers and layered holographic green vinyl and EasyWeed Electric HTV for fun sparkle and shine! You can view the video tutorial here.

Shamrocked Sign

This one is SO SHINY in person! This canvas is such a fun display piece, especially using our patterned vinyl.

This project uses our Lucky Leprechaun patterned permanent adhesive vinyl as well as our opal adhesive vinyl. This canvas is actually painted with gold paint, but if you want to skip that step you can always use one of our gold-colored vinyls. However, it is recommended to coat your canvas with Mod Podge or paint so that the vinyl has something to stick to. (Or you can just heat press on some HTV with no prep.)

Small Gift Boxes

These little boxes would be perfect for handing out to classmates, coworkers, friends, or anyone who could use some luck!

These party favors started as plain cardstock boxes, and we spiced them up with some fun vinyl! We used our Irish Plaid patterned adhesive vinyl for the background, then added reflective adhesive vinyl and opal adhesive vinyl for more shine and sparkle!

Lucky Little Leprechaun Outfit

This outfit is perfect for your mischievous littles, or if you want a cute holiday outfit that they can still play in.

We got this matching top and bottom set from Target (how cute are the rainbow stripes on the sides?!) and added the vinyl ourselves. We think our rainbow-patterned and gold glitter vinyl really added some pizzazz to this outfit.

Lucky Cup

This cup is so festive (and so easy to make)! You can decorate it however you'd like, whether you like shamrocks, rainbows, pots of gold, leprechauns, or anything else you can think of!

For our first cup, we used EasyPSV permanent adhesive as the base of the design and added our Clovers patterned adhesive vinyl on top.

For our second cup (see our tutorial video), we used our metalized gold chrome adhesive vinyl for some extra shine and used EasyPSV for more details on the shamrocks.

Lucky Shamrock Pillowcase

This design is so cute! It's the perfect addition to your sitting area. (Plus it's so easy to make!)

For this pillowcase, we started with an offset of black EasyWeed to lay down our base for the design. Then, we pressed on our glitter and our Electric EasyWeed to add a fun shine and sparkle. EasyWeed Electric HTV is perfect for when you want a little something extra without being too flashy (and without having too much texture).

Happy Go Lucky Pillow

Are you feeling "happy go lucky"? We sure hope so! This pillow is the perfect addition to your St. Patrick's Day decor.

For this pillow, we used our Arilee Creative Co. cut file from the February 2022 Mystery Box as well as our vinyl from the Mystery Box. This design was so easy to weed and press, too!

Lucky Banner

This banner is a great way to decorate for St. Patrick's Day and incorporate some green into your home.

For this project, we cut cardstock into pennants and strung it together with ribbon. Then, the layering begins! We layered opal adhesive vinyl over reflective adhesive vinyl (it's super shiny in person!) and mix-and-matched those with patterned adhesive vinyl as well.

Then, just decorate with shamrocks wherever you see fit!

Finger-Painted Decor

It's time to get the kids involved! Finger painting can be messy, but it can also be so fun! This decor is one that can be used for years to come and a cute memory to look back on.

For this project, we used Oramask 813 stencil vinyl to make the outline of the shamrocks, then gave the kids some finger paints and told them to have fun! We used a variety of green and gold to make each shamrock unique.

When the paint was all dry, we peeled off the stencils, added a gold vinyl accent, and added a phrase in the middle. It's that easy! You can watch our tutorial to the right for more information on this fun project!

Sassy Lassy Onesie

Another fun onesie we made was for a little "sassy lassy!" This design used three different colors of glitter, so the knockout method was required for pressing the shirt. (Remember, you can have glitter as the top layer, but it cannot be layered on top of.) This project is perfect for newer Silhouette users who need a little more guidance when doing fancy things like modifying a design, as we did here.

To make this project, we took our two designs, uploaded them to the same workspace in Silhouette Studio, and adjusted them so that it looked exactly how we wanted on our onesie. Then, using the Modify Panel, we adjusted our designs so that there would be no overlap or layering with our glitter vinyl. (This is important!) Finally, we got to send our vinyl through our machine to be cut! After weeding and pressing our glitter HTV, our onesie was ready to be worn by a very sassy lassy!

Shenanigans Shirt

St. Patrick's Day is full of leprechaun shenanigans. If you're game for leprechaun pranks, then this shirt is for you!

This shirt is perfect for St. Patrick's Day, but it's also toned down enough that you could wear it year-round if you wanted to. For this shirt, we used one of the Mystery Box exclusive cut files from Arilee Creative Co. and used our Mystery Box materials to put it together. We think the Gold Confetti glitter details add the perfect finishing touch.

St. Patrick's Day Buttons

This project actually came from one of our Vinyl Friday episodes! We made plastic buttons using all kinds of vinyl. There is so much variety in what designs you can make, and they're so easily customizable, too! We let viewers of the live video decide which designs they wanted to see out of various hats, shamrocks, leprechaun faces, quotes, and more, as well as the different colors.
